A note from our Founder, Kendra:

I’m Kendra and I am an herbalist, gardener, forager, world traveler and a lover of all things natural. I have worked in the wellness industry for over 12 years and have worked as an herbalist, yoga teacher, health coach, juice cleanse concierge, and even a meditation teacher.
My herbal journey began when I was a child. I use to go out to a find herbs, dirt, or anything I could get my hands on to make my “science experiments”. I would take whatever I had, put it into a jar with water and hide them in my mother’s cabinets. I remember several times that my mom would reach to grab pasta or something else for dinner and a jar would come crashing out! Whoops! Looking back, I realize that I was starting my herbalism journey and I didn’t even realize it.

I grew up in a small town near Cleveland, OH, and lived a very typical midwestern life. Back in the 80s & 90s our middle-class family was not focused primarily on nutrition, we were focused on eating. Don’t get me wrong, these meals were delicious, but in hindsight, I can’t say they were always nutritious. Often veggies came from a can, our meals were heavily focused on meat, and I can say with 100% certainty that cheese was included at every meal. I loved everything my parents cooked but my body did not.

During my childhood, I experienced a lot of sicknesses and spent many days at the doctor’s office trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Throughout my entire life, I have had issues with my lungs. The doctors always attributed it to asthma but that never really seemed to solve the problem. I was constantly getting sick and we could never get the answers to get to the root of the cause.

As I grew up, I began to gain an interest in nutrition and more natural ways of healing my body since modern medicine wasn’t helping me. I was still dealing with issues with my lungs and it began to take a toll on my body, mind, and spirit. It was that frustration and fatigue that sparked my interest in the relationship between immunity and nutrition. I was fascinated with the new knowledge that I had the potential to feel good again if I could change my diet and introduce healthier foods and herbs. I grabbed every book I could get my hands on and really began to pay attention to the signals my body was giving me.

In 2012, I traveled to India to obtain my yoga certification which led me into the practice of Ayurveda. This was one of the first times I had experienced a medical practice that included all aspects of the human being. As I expanded on my Ayurvedic knowledge, I was again called to the practice of herbs, which eventually led me to get a formal herbal education in 2016 from the Herbal Academy. As my knowledge has grown I have now become the go-to “medicine” woman. I get texts from family, friends, and co-workers asking what tea they should drink, or soup they should make to feel better.

When I was a sick child, I was poked and prodded by doctors more than I needed to be. I was tested for everything from mono to leukemia and still, I didn’t have answers. It wasn’t until I took charge of my health and healing that I truly felt well. That confidence is what I want you to feel.
-
The combined experience of being a sick child, listening to my own body to heal, and my work in the wellness industry has fueled my passion to offer the opportunity for others to heal on their own terms.
